Extended service life and decreased surface temperature are two key features of GORE Performance Fiber for High Performance Ropes.

Tension Member Technology conducted bend over sheave testing of 6x9 Twaron® 3/4 inch Aramid yarn laid rope made by Whitehill Manufacturing Corporation. Ropes were constructed with and without GORE Performance Fiber for High Performance Ropes. 
Test conditions: Load, 25% of break strength; cycle rate, 500 cycles/hour; speed, 1.1 ft/sec; D:d, 20; sheave, 15 inch.

Tension Member Technology conducted bend over sheave testing of 12-strand 3/4 inch Vectran® LCP yarn braided rope made by Cortland Cable. Ropes were constructed with and without GORE Performance Fiber for High Performance Ropes. 
Test conditions: Load, 18.5% of break strength; cycle rate, 500 cycles/hour; speed, 1.1 ft/sec; D:d, 20; sheave, 15 inch.

Reduced Rope Operating Temperatures

GORE Performance Fiber for High Performance Ropes dramatically reduces the rope surface temperature during operation.

Tension Member Technology monitored the rope surface temperature during the bend over sheave testing.  The 12-strand 3/4 inch Vectran® LCP yarn braided ropes made by Cortland Cable were constructed with and without GORE Performance Fiber for High Performance Ropes.
Test conditions: Load, 18.5% of break strength; cycle rate, 500 cycles/hour; speed, 1.1 ft/sec; D:d, 20; sheave, 15 inch.
