Introduced to NATO in the mid-1990s, we identified a need to provide a reliable, easy-to-use umbilical assembly with a connector system that didn’t fail during installation or operation. GORE MIL-STD-1760 Assemblies combined with the Harris Field Replaceable Connector System (FRCS) are successfully qualified against specification with proven, consistent disconnect loads. Certified for more than 100 ejected releases, our assembly with the FRCS has delivered more than 3,500 successful store releases on many airborne platforms such as:

Easy Pylon Installation
Our MIL-STD-1760 assemblies can withstand repeated flexing without mechanical or electrical failure and have a proven flex life of more than 100,000 flexes for easy routing in limited spaces of aircraft pylons. With a robust, yet flexible construction, they reduce downtime and life-cycle costs because they don’t have to be replaced after each use.
Also, our assemblies can be attached to and removed from ASI (Aircraft Store Interface) and MSI (Mission Store Interface) while operating in an NBC (Nuclear Biological Chemical) environment in accordance with MIL-STD-1472, Paragraph 4.10. The technology enables fast and easy connector system replacement while maintaining proven product performance.

Gore and Harris performed validation testing on GORE MIL-STD-1760 Assemblies with the Harris Field Replaceable Connector System (FRCS) compared to standard umbilical assemblies that use screw-on MIL-DTL-38999/31 land yard connectors. We configured the test on stores with racks that were adjusted to represent accurately various pylon stations, including retention methods. Then, we captured the data during the test to validate connector loads and store velocity.
Our results showed that 1 out of 10 new standard umbilical assemblies with screw-on connectors separated within the specification load. But, GORE MIL-STD-1760 Assemblies with the Harris FRCS delivered consistent disconnect loads and can guarantee 100 fully instrumental drops.
